Societe Beninoise des Manutentions
Portuaires (the Beninese Ports Operations and
Handling Company) is the company towards which you steer your
vessel as you enter the Cotonou Port or Airport.
SOBEMAP
was established in 1969 with a capital of 1.764.000 FF. The company
oversees all handling and operation services (on and off shore), customs
formality and other activities at the Cotonou Port.
The objective of SOBEMAP is to make Cotonou Port the greatest of all the
small ports in the sub-region, and the fastest and most effective goods
transit route, by offering the best services  at
the lowest cost in the shortest time, under the best conditions in the
sub-region.
To achieve its goal, SOBEMAP operates round the clock (24 hours), has a
large pool of regularly updated stevedoring equipment, a modern garage
in which to service the equipment, and a qualified, experienced and
dynamic staff.
